TRIAD Early Childhood Para-Educator Workshop

Location: Kodak, TN

Vanderbilt’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) will provide a 2 day hands-on workshop designed specifically for pre-school para-educators in Tennessee who directly serve students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The purpose of the Early Childhood Para-Educator workshop is to provide LEAs with knowledge and strategies to better serve their students with ASD.

Participant Requirements

  1. Directly serve students with ASD
  2. Attend both days of the workshop

Training Topics

  • Characteristics of ASD
  • Impact of ASD on learning
  • Evidence-based instructional strategies (EBPs) for teaching students
  • Behavior management principles
  • Basic data collection procedures

Workshop Format

  • Large group instruction, modeling, and discussion
  • Small group application and role play activities
  • Video examples

Proof of Attendance

Participants will receive certificates documenting their participation in the Early Childhood Para-Educator Workshop and 12 hours of professional development.*

*Participants must attend both days of the workshop in order to receive 12 professional development hours.

This workshop opportunity is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Education and is available to educators in LEAs in Tennessee at no-cost to participants.
