Overview of Interests
Instructional Coordinator Shari Jensen of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Reading Clinic provides training and support to the 20+ undergraduate and graduate students who tutor in the Reading Clinic. Her goal is to create a synergistic environment that encourages collaboration between the various disciplines that utilize the Clinic: Speech and Language Pathology, Center for Teaching and Learning, Reading Education, Special Education (Low and High Incidence), Psychology and Applied Behavioral Analysis. Tutors maximize learning through individualized, assessment-driven instruction using a variety of research-based curricula that is targeted based on the needs of each client.
Shari Jensen has 25+ years of experience helping children realize academic success, with emphasis being in the area of reading instruction. Her experience includes: tutor, multiage classroom teacher in the Denver Public School District, Reading Specialist and Title 1 Director in Platte Canyon School District. In addition, she has extensive experience with ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder and the effects of anxiety on learning.
