TRIAD Kindergarten Readiness Workshop-West

Date: February 26, 2019 to February 28, 2019

Time: 8:00AM to 3:30PM

Location: Brownsville, TN

Vanderbilt’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) will provide a three-day hands-on workshop designed specifically for the following pairs of teams: preschool and kindergarten teacher, preschool teacher and administrator, kindergarten teacher and administrator, or preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher, and administrator. The purpose of this workshop is to provide educators with knowledge and strategies to help all their students be kindergarten ready, as well as support teams in developing a smooth and effective bridging process to support families and students during the kindergarten transition.

Participant Requirements

  1. Directly serve students with ASD
  2. Attend both days of the workshop

Training Topics

  • Characteristics of ASD
  • Impact of ASD on learning
  • Evidence-based instructional strategies (EBPs) for teaching students
  • Behavior management principles
  • Basic data collection procedures

Workshop Format

  • Large group instruction, modeling, and discussion
  • Small group application and role play activities
  • Video examples

Proof of Attendance

Participants will receive certificates documenting their participation in the Early Childhood Para-Educator Workshop and 12 hours of professional development.*

*Participants must attend both days of the workshop in order to receive 12 professional development hours.

This workshop opportunity is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Education and is available to educators in LEAs in Tennessee at no-cost to participants.
