TRIAD School Age Para-Educator Workshop-West, TN

Date: February 27, 2019 to February 28, 2019

Time: 8:00AM to 3:30PM

Location: Bolivar, TN

Vanderbilt’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) will provide a two-day workshop designed specifically for para-educators who serve students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in kindergarten through high school settings. The purpose of the workshop is to provide para-educators with knowledge and strategies to better serve their students with ASD.

Participant Requirements

  1. Directly serve students with ASD
  2. Attend both days of the workshop

Training Topics

  • Characteristics of ASD
  • Impact of ASD on learning and the school environment
  • Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and how to help students learn using the A-B-C model of behavior
  • Evidence-based practices (EBPs) for teaching students with ASD
  • Creation of useful tools to use upon returning to school

Workshop Format

  • Large group instruction and discussion
  • Small group application and role play activities
  • Video demonstration
  • Make It Take It

Proof of Attendance

Participants will receive certificates documenting their participation in the School Age Para-Educator Workshop and 12 hours of professional development.*

*Participants must attend both days of the workshop in order to receive 12 professional development hours.

This workshop opportunity is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Education and is available to educators in LEAs in Tennessee at no-cost to participants.
