Seminars in Neuroscience: Brain, Mind, and Society Lecture: The Developmental Neuromechanics of Vocal Production

Asif A. Ghazanfar, Ph.D., Professor of Neuroscience, Princeton Neuroscience Institute, Princeton University

Wednesday, Apr. 1, 2020, 4:00 p.m.
1220 MRB III Lecture Hall

Changes in vocal behavior during development are typically attributed solely to developing neural circuits. Our work, by contrast, emphasizes the importance of the body in developing vocal behaviors by showing how the biomechanical consequences of a growing body can simplify motor control, reducing the computational load on the developing brain.
