A monthly workshop series for parents of young children with an autism spectrum disorder. Program is free of charge. Each 3-hour workshop focuses on providing parents and caregivers with strategies to use at home, school, and in the community. The strategies discussed are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). In this workshop, we will provide a framework for understanding the influences on challenging behavior, so parents are more effectively able to identify and address triggers. This presentation examines both preventative and reactive strategies in the management of challenging behavior. We will provide suggestions for structuring the environment (including our behavior) in a way that promotes appropriate behavior, identifying and teaching appropriate replacement behaviors, and responding to difficult behavior in the moment.
