"Finding Hope Beyond Our Suffering" is a one-day Irresistible Church Training conference by Joni and Friends, a Christian-based organization. It is for church leaders, volunteers, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning how to provide ministry to families affected by disability. The keynote speaker is Erik Carter, Ph. D., who is Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Special Education at Vanderbilt University. His research and teaching focuses on evidence-based strategies for supporting access to the general curriculum and promoting valued roles in school, work, community, and congregational settings for children and adults with intellectual disability, autism, and multiple disabilities. He has published more than 200 articles, chapters, and books in the areas of educational, transition, and community services for children and youth with disabilities. Saturday will be filled with speakers who are experts on special needs ministry from Tennessee. We will also have exhibitors sharing what they offer to the disability community. Make sure you stop by their tables to learn more about their organizations. Lunch will be included with registration.
