iCan Shine Bike Camp is a unique program with an exciting mission: to teach individuals with disabilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle and become lifelong independent riders. This achievement, in turn, creates a gateway of opportunity, helping them gain assurance and self reliance in many other aspects of their lives. Additional information and testimonials can be found at https://icanshine.org/.
THIS CAMP IS ONLY OFFERED EVERY OTHER YEAR (dependent upon budget) BY DSAMT AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE IN 2019!
How it works:
Campers attend an assigned 75-minute session each day of the five-day camp. Camp staff and volunteers supervise campers as they learn to ride on specially designed bicycles. Approximately 85% of iCan Bike participants successfully ride a conventional bike independently within one week.
