Overview of Interests
Niya Moon's connection to the disability community began at an early age when her sister was diagnosed with autism. This experience eventually led to her joining an organization comprised of people with similar experiences in Chicago called Supporting Illinois Brothers and Sisters (SIBS). After relocating to her hometown in Nashville and seeking similar support, Niya became a member of Tennessee Adult Brothers and Sisters (TABS) and later served on the Diversity and Social Justice Committee of its national affiliate, Sibling Leadership Network (SLN). Her goal is to promote access to a variety of vocational, residential and other services to help adults with disabilities thrive. She would also like to see more awareness and inclusion of these individuals in society.
